Antonio Brown Trade: Raiders Come Out As Big Winners

Author: Peter DiPaola

Antonio Brown was shipped by the Steelers to the Oakland Raiders on Saturday evening. Which finally ended speculation as to where he would land after the team announced they wanted to ship him out of Pittsburgh.

He will be a welcomed addition in Oakland, he has 6 straight seasons over over 100 catches, and in 15 games in 2018 he caught 104 passes for 1,297 yards and a league leading 15 touchdowns. He joins a team that ranked 18th in passing yards (3,751) and that threw for just 19 touchdowns (24th in the NFL).

The Raiders did not have a single pass catcher go over 1,000 yards last season, or 100 catchers. Tight end Jared Cook, lead the Raiders in  yards (896) and touchdowns (6). He was tied with running back Jalen Richard with 68 catches.

Antonio gives the Raiders a big boost at the receiver position, their leading pass catching wide receiver was former Packer Jordy Nelson. Nelson caught 63 passes for 739 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Aside from obtaining a very talented wide receiver, the Raiders did not have to give up much to obtain him, they traded a 3rd round pick and 5th round pick in the upcoming draft, so they still have their 3 first round picks.

The Raiders move to Las Vegas in 2020, and with all the draft picks and top talent at receiver, they have the firepower and picks to be a big attraction in a city that loves its entertainment.
